IIt's Time to Celebrate!
Teven Valley Farm would like you to take some time out, have a good look at the “modern” industrial food system and then we'd like to ask you to celebrate.  Celebrate the exceptional, celebrate the unusual, celebrate the eccentric. …In short, we would like you to celebrate our range of ice creams and meatballs, all handmade on our small farm in Teven, NSW.

"Meatballs and ice cream seem like odd partners," we hear you say. Read on, for as you will see, we like to celebrate the unconventional.

Ice Cream
Our ice creams feature Northern NSW milk and cream from Norco as well as ingredients grown either on our farm at Teven or by small local producers close by. We will be limiting our "standard menu" of ice creams to a handful of somewhat adventurous flavours. Flavours you would not typically find in the large supermarket chains. Flavours that may challenge your idea of the conventional and ask you to take a journey with us.

And when we say "come on a journey," our aim is to offer you something very different and distinctive like our Stout Ice Cream or Banana Ice Cream with Bacon Peanut Brittle..yes, ice cream made with stout beer and yes, ice cream with bacon in it.

Of course, we can do the conventional but I think at this early stage we might leave that to those whose focus is completely on the end result, rather than "the journey".

If you are a caterer, cafe or a restaurant, we are happy to work with you to sell our ice cream or produce your own special ice cream or sorbet. Because we are small we can offer you a "make to order" service. This allows us to produce something to compliment your current and future menus. Looking for a unique dessert to help differentiate your business? Give us a call and let's see what we can come up with.

Meatballs
Meatballs might very well be the forgotten convenience food. Pop a pack of our meatballs in the oven, add our sauce or your own and, 20 minutes later, you have a tasty meal that all the family loves. Enjoy with pasta, salad, vegetables or simply on their own as a snack.

Having trouble with your children eating their chorizo? Well, have them try our Spanish Meatballs, there is plenty of chorizo in there! Trying to impress dinner guests with your non-existent culinary skills? Push a plate of our Mediterannean Lamb Meatballs in front of them and they will be filling out the Masterchef entry form for you.

Our meatballs are pretty tasty even when cold, so they are perfect for school lunches, family gatherings or picnics. And because hamburgers are basically a "flat meatball," we offer hamburgers in the same flavour combinations for that BBQ with a difference.

Small Scale - it does not need to be "perfect" to be good
We were once a peach farm selling pallets of fruit into the large supermarket chains. The chains' motto was basically "if it is blemished, bin it"...which of course is ridiculous as the outside had very little to do with the inside. This of course led to ridiculous levels of waste and very happy, well fed cows.

It could be seen as an "old fashioned" view but we believe that farm fresh food, prepared by hand in small batches with care, is not only better for you but usually more tasty and filling. The large supermarkets want you to believe that "cheap food should be your focus". But we all need to have a think about what this means: what ingredients do they need to use to make this cheap "food?" And this is the stuff we are feeding our children and ourselves.

You can buy cheaper
With a family of our own, we understand that it is not always easy to balance budgets. Of course we would like you to buy and use our products every day but with indulgent, rich food like ice cream or unique meatballs that's not really the point, is it?

Sure,  we can make all our products more cheaply by using lower quality ingredients and adopting the big scale processes of the major food companies. They need to make product compromises in quality and process so they can make it faster and therefore cheaper. The large food manufacturers probably spill more in a day than we make in a month.

We take our time to make sure we take care.

Spanish meatballs once a week is something to look forward to... and a couple of scoops of Burnt Honey Ice Cream every night is all you will need to remind yourself that great food is worth paying a little bit extra for.

Single Source - a holistic approach
It may sound like a cliche', but we are trying to build a food business that is holistic not only in philosophy but also in practise. Our ultimate aim is to make quality products with core ingredients grown on our farm.  We have the space. We now just need the time to plant and grow what we need.  Until then, or where this is not practical or possible, we source core ingredients from known, trusted Northern NSW producers who share our food philosophy.

We are accredited
We might be small but that does not mean we are not professional. And whereas we may like to celebrate the unconventional there are some very important conventions we adhere to. Our on-farm production facility has been inspected and approved by our local council's environmental health group. Our water quality assurance process has been approved by NSW Health. Our Food Safety Program that reviews how we handle ingredients and finished food products has been approved by the NSW Food Authority.  This all means that you can buy from us with confidence.u All th

So, have a browse and tell us what you think. Our products are available via select local Northern Rivers (NSW) markets and through select retail outlets and cafes.

We hope you enjoy your celebration... Katherine and Mark
